UL flame retardant and high temperature resistant label
The label material based on polyimide film, combined with specially designed coatings, has excellent printing and printing effects. Mainly used for marking circuit boards and other electronic components in SMT processes, with a temperature resistance of up to 350 ℃ @ 50min, in compliance with UL 94 VTM-0 flame retardant standards, commonly used in products with flame retardant requirements such as lithium batteries and automotive circuit boards. There are two main thicknesses: 0.5mil (0.012mm) and 1mil (0.025mm). The material complies with environmental standards such as Rohs VI, Halogen Free, REACH 2.0 PFOS, etc.
Flame retardant label is a special 1ml (25 μ) polyimide film high-temperature permanent pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive with high transparency, semi gloss white coat specially designed to be flame retardant to UL94 VTM-0 standard.
UL flame retardant and high-temperature resistant label usage
The material is suitable for harsh environments, including applications that require the material not to spread flames. If exposed to flames, label design is to prevent the spread of flames. The label adopts a unique combination of surface coating, polyimide film, and adhesive to provide flame retardant performance to meet the UL94 VTM-0 standard. In addition, the implementation of flame retardant performance does not use halogenated flame retardant materials, making it suitable for electronic applications.
Flame retardant labels are designed for harsh environments and can be printed with barcode, graphic, or text information using thermal transfer or flexographic ink systems. When printed with an appropriate heat transfer ribbon, the label is resistant to chemical exposure such as isopropanol, terpenes, and saponification agents. Even if the material is directly exposed to friction or accidental contact, the image will not be stained.
What is UL flame retardant label?
The UL flame retardant label refers to a safety certification mark obtained by a product after passing UL (Underwriters Laboratories) flame retardant testing. This symbol represents that the product has passed UL's rigorous safety assessment and meets UL's flame retardant performance standards. As a globally renowned safety certification body, UL's flame retardant label is widely recognized as an authoritative symbol of product quality and safety.
Specifically, the UL flame retardant label indicates that the product material has certain flame retardant properties under specific testing conditions, that is, the material can quickly extinguish after being ignited and will not continue to burn or cause a fire. This is crucial for many industries such as construction, electronics, automotive, medical equipment, etc., as their products may come into contact with sources of fire during use, and therefore must have certain flame retardant properties to ensure safe use.
Standard for UL flame retardant labels
The UL flame retardant label standard is a series of testing standards for material flame retardancy developed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the United States. These standards typically include various testing methods such as vertical combustion testing, horizontal combustion testing, and ultimate oxygen index testing to evaluate the flame retardant performance of materials under different conditions.
Specifically, the standards for UL flame retardant labels may involve the following aspects:
Vertical combustion test: a testing method for evaluating the combustion performance of materials when placed vertically, by observing indicators such as the combustion speed and flame spread length of the sample to assess the flame retardancy of the material.
Horizontal combustion test: a testing method for evaluating the combustion performance of materials when placed horizontally, which also evaluates the flame retardancy of materials by observing indicators such as the combustion speed and flame spread length of the sample.
Extreme Oxygen Index Test: A test method for evaluating the minimum oxygen concentration required for a material to maintain combustion at a specific oxygen concentration, used to determine the flame retardant performance level of the material.
It should be noted that the standards for UL flame retardant labels are not static. With the development of technology and the improvement of safety standards, UL will continuously update and improve its flame retardant testing standards. Therefore, in specific applications, it is necessary to refer to the latest UL flame retardant testing standards to evaluate the flame retardant performance of the product.
UL94 flame retardant rating classification
UL94 is currently the most widely used flame retardant performance evaluation standard for plastic materials internationally, with a total of 12 grades: HB V-0、V-1、V-2、5VA、5VB、VTM-0、VTM-1、VTM-2、HBF、HF-1、HF-2。
VTM-0, VTM-1, and VTM-2 are suitable for plastic films, while HBF, HF1, and HF2 are suitable for foam materials.
The equivalent flame retardant rating standard adopted by China is GBT2408 "Horizontal and Vertical Methods for Testing the Burning Behavior of Plastics".
The flame retardant grade of plastics increases gradually from HB to V-0: HB<V-2<V-1<V-0<5VB<5VA.
