UL94 Common Test Methods
UL94 is used to evaluate the ability of materials to extinguish flames after being ignited. There are multiple evaluation methods based on combustion speed, combustion time, anti drip ability, and whether the drips are burning.
UL flame retardant label
With the development of society, the volume and structure of electronic products produced are becoming smaller and more complex. The probability of fire caused by high temperature will greatly increase. In the electronics industry, flame-retardant edge labels for lithium batteries can greatly reduce the risk of battery leakage and increase the safety of battery use. The application of flame-retardant labels in the electronics industry is already very mature. In fact, flame-retardant labels are also widely used in other industries.
In the automotive industry, fire-resistant and flame-retardant labels are also widely used in various components. Every summer, there are always reports of cars catching fire due to high temperatures, leaving only an iron frame burned down. Therefore, for parts that are prone to catching fire in cars, fire prevention measures must be taken. The battery, motor, engine, wiring harness and other parts of the car will use fire-resistant and flame-retardant label materials instead of using labels made of other materials. Do you know the reason for this?
The fire-resistant and flame-retardant labels are made of PET material, which is a polymer material. It has good hardness and brittleness, can withstand certain high temperatures, resist harsh environments, and resist corrosion from chemicals such as acid and alkali. It is suitable for making various durability labels.
Due to the special properties of PET materials, such label products are also applied in many other fields, such as industrial and automation equipment, wind and photovoltaic wiring harnesses, medical equipment, aerospace, electronic communication, and so on.
UL flame retardant and high temperature resistant label
The label material based on polyimide film, combined with specially designed coatings, has excellent printing and printing effects. Mainly used for marking circuit boards and other electronic components in SMT processes, with a temperature resistance of up to 350 ℃ @ 50min, in compliance with UL 94 VTM-0 flame retardant standards, commonly used in products with flame retardant requirements such as lithium batteries and automotive circuit boards. There are two main thicknesses: 0.5mil (0.012mm) and 1mil (0.025mm). The material complies with environmental standards such as Rohs VI, Halogen Free, REACH 2.0 PFOS, etc.
Flame retardant label is a special 1ml (25 μ) polyimide film high-temperature permanent pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive with high transparency, semi gloss white coat specially designed to be flame retardant to UL94 VTM-0 standard.
UL flame retardant and high-temperature resistant label usage
The material is suitable for harsh environments, including applications that require the material not to spread flames. If exposed to flames, label design is to prevent the spread of flames. The label adopts a unique combination of surface coating, polyimide film, and adhesive to provide flame retardant performance to meet the UL94 VTM-0 standard. In addition, the implementation of flame retardant performance does not use halogenated flame retardant materials, making it suitable for electronic applications.
Flame retardant labels are designed for harsh environments and can be printed with barcode, graphic, or text information using thermal transfer or flexographic ink systems. When printed with an appropriate heat transfer ribbon, the label is resistant to chemical exposure such as isopropanol, terpenes, and saponification agents. Even if the material is directly exposed to friction or accidental contact, the image will not be stained.
